Bear Valley Hospice provides Chaplains as a spiritual resource for our patients and their families. Our Chaplains can provide direct spiritual care, maintain religious and spiritual connections to community groups, and even facilitate funeral or memorial services if requested by the patient or family.

Michael has been with Bear Valley hospice since 2019 and has over five years of experience providing spiritual support to different people and communities. Michael believes that the final chapter of a fellow human's life is precious and he is honored to support patients and their families through their transition and grief process. Michael loves the people, the climate, the air and the trees here in Big Bear and he feels blessed to be in service to our beloved community, patients, and families. Michael says Big Bear really is heaven on earth!
Jim joined the Bear Valley Hospice Team in 2020 with over 10 years of experience as a deacon and seven years as a chaplain. Jim believes that we are all made as spiritual and physical beings and he enjoys using his faith to help people travel through from the physical into the spiritual life filled with hope. Jim moved to Big Bear in 1975 and has been in love with this community ever since! From the beautiful seasons we enjoy to the people he has met along the way, Jim loves being a local. He likes to ski, be on the lake, and hike in his spare time.
